You want peace of mind to ensure that your children are safe and locatable. A GPS tracker is what you need. We review five of the best options on the market, including ones where you don't need additional data.

We've all been there.

When the child is turning around 3 or 4, we decide that we need to use technology to help us to keep a track of the kid's location AT ALL TIMES. That part was capitalised on purpose as we always stress on that.

So what are you going to do about it? Go through our reviews of the best children's trackers on the market and buy one that will allow you to monitor the whereabouts of your young ones at all times!

If I recall correctly, it was around the age of two that I started researching on GPS trackers for my youngest. He was a bit unrul and would have be so independent for such a young child that sometimes he'd run off into the garden, rain or sunshine. My eldest two were a lot more relaxed and you could leave them on the sofa and they wouldn't have moved an inch.

OK, you might think I was being overt the top, but it's better to be safe than sorry, right?

With these types of trackers for kids, it's so easy to pinpoint the location of a young child using the apps and maps already built in to your smartphone. the only thing you'd need is a reliable GPS tracker. We go through some of them on this page.

We liked the geo-fencing option that the Thermomoe watch offers i.e. a virtual barrier drawn on a map which triggers the GPS alarm device if they person goes outside of this drawn barrier in the designated location.

The one thing that we wanted to distinguish is whether you really need to buy an additional data plan. Unless you want your child to be able to make calls and texts to a specified number, then we don't think it's necessary.

Is it Legal to Track Your Kids?

As long as you are one of the legal parents or guardian and have no legal papers served against you for that particular child, then it is generally considered within your rights to track the child with these types of devices as long as he or she is under the age of 18.

This applies in the USA and UK, but we can't be sure of other nations. Please do your own checks.

Whether your 14 year old teenager wants you to be able to track him is a different matter and we won't be drawn into that conversation. At this juncture, you're better off visiting some parenting blogs. :)
